Presentation Title:

Assessment of the risk of development of occupationally caused diseases of the musculoskeletal system in miners

Abstract

The article presents the results of a study aimed at assessing the risk of developing occupationally induced Musculoskeletal System (MSS) disorders among mine workers exposed to harmful workplace factors. The study included 86 workers engaged in underground and open-pit operations who were exposed to vibration and significant physical loads. A comparison group consisted of 50 on-duty and equipment repair electricians whose professional activities were not associated with these harmful exposures. Health status was assessed based on periodic medical examinations and clinical evaluations. The analysis used indicators of Relative Risk (RR), Standardized Relative Risk (SRR), Odds Ratio (OR), and Etiological Fraction (EF). Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS software package. It was found that mine workers had a 2.4-fold higher risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders compared to the control group.
