Disability of children due to congenital heart defects in the Russian Federation
Abstract
Despite the significant achievements of medical science and practice in
the organization of MSE and rehabilitation, the study of the state of primary
childhood disability due to congenital heart defects is currently a significant
and pressing problem in pediatrics. Analyzing current trends in the incidence
of congenital heart disease, it should be noted that the prevalence of
congenital anomalies of the cardiovascular system is increasing.
The incidence of congenital heart defects in the Russian Federation is
on average 8 - 14 people per 1000 newborns;
Based on the results of our research, we established the following
patterns in the number of children with disabilities due to congenital heart
disease;
– disability due to heart defects in Moscow was established on average
for the period of 339.7 children from among the children sent for examination
with major congenital heart defects, with fluctuations from 76.1% in 2018 to
93.7% in 2017, respectively;
– a direct, close, high connection was established between the number of
VPI due to 16 congenital heart disease and the number of children with
congenital heart disease referred for MSE, which was confirmed by K. Pearson’s
correlation coefficient;
– disability due to congenital
heart disease is established from 5.6% to 7.2% among all children initially
recognized as disabled; due to the 5 main studied congenital disabilities
amounted to from 1.9% to 3.6% in the structure of primary childhood disability
in Moscow in the period from 2015 to 2022, on average for the period 2.8%;
– the number of disabled children recognized for the first time due to 5
main congenital disabilities in Moscow decreased from year to year, with the
exception of 2017 and 2022, the greatest rate of decline in the number of
disabled children was observed in 2018; in general, over 8 years, the number of
newly recognized disabled children due to 5 main congenital disabilities
decreased by 3 times;
– against the backdrop of positive dynamics in the average annual number
of children in Moscow, which over 7 years increased by 12.1%, the number of
disabled children recognized for the first time due to 5 main congenital
disabilities decreased by 31.1%, which was a favorable trend.
