Presentation Title:

Challenges and solutions in the recovery of children with severe burns

Abstract

Severe burns represent a significant challenge in paediatric medicine, having a complex impact on the physical, psychological, and social health of children. Recovery involves a multidimensional process, encompassing challenges in pain management, infection prevention, social reintegration, and addressing psychological scars. This article aims to analyse the most common challenges encountered in the recovery of children with severe burns and propose evidence-based solutions. The methods employed include a review of recent literature and an analysis of representative clinical cases. The findings highlight the importance of an interdisciplinary approach, combining advanced medical treatments—such as pressure therapy and regenerative technologies—with psychological support and family education. Additionally, the use of technological innovations, such as 3D simulations and virtual reality, has proven promising in pain management and cognitive rehabilitation. The conclusions underline the necessity of personalised protocols, close collaboration between medical teams, and preventive education to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
